Play Your Best with Tennis Techniques
General October 8th, 2008If you think tennis is a purely physical game, think again. No less than Jimmy Connors said that tennis is 95 percent mental when played at the elite level. So the next time you gear up for a serious game of tennis, brush up on your tennis techniques. With these techniques on hand, you don’t only play for fun, you can play to win each time, all the time.
Here are some tennis techniques you can incorporate into your playing.
1. Mix spins.
Give your opponent different spins. This will throw off his timing. Once he starts making errors, his confidence level will dip and his play will drop.
2. Run everything down.
Do a split-step every time your opponent starts swinging. Time your split-step so that you will be on the way down when the ball leaves the other person’s racquet.
3. Don’t stop before you hit short balls.
To get more short balls back, run forward each time you hit the really short ones. Stopping – or trying to stop – will only put you off-balance.
